James  Jenkins, M.Ed., LPC

Who are we?

James S. (Jim) Jenkins Jr. is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with more than 35 years of experience working with people having developmental disabilities, mental health, substance abuse, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, chronic pain and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. He has worked as an outpatient community based therapist in both the public and private sectors.

As a member of the American Mental Health Counselors Association and the Licensed Professional Counselors Association of Georgia he is experienced in providing individual, group, couples and family therapy. Jim is a Board Certified Expert in Traumatic Stress and a Clinical Diplomate of the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress.

Jim is a certified Red Cross instructor, teaching Psychological First Aid and Foundations of Disaster Mental Health.  He has also taught Crisis Intervention, Stress Management and Mental Health Law to law enforcement and is a POST certified trainer.

He is currently the Coordinator for Disaster Mental Health Services for the East Georgia Chapter of the American Red Cross.  He is also the Disaster Response Coordinator for the Licensed Professional Counselors Association and a charter member of the Athens Area Crisis Response Team. Jim is a Vietnam combat veteran.
